Montignies-sur-Roc, douceur de vivre

The very rich network of streams prompted the inhabitants to build mills since time immemorial. Many have disappeared, but at Audregnies one of these buildings, from the 12th century, has become the visitor centre of the Brasserie de l'Abbaye des Rocs. A better place could not be found to present this beer, from the first microbrewery in Belgium. Nathalie recalls, “My grandfather launched his beer in 1979, we were the only ones...” The brews are still located on the heights, close to Montignies-sur-Roc, where pure spring water is drawn. Likewise are the beers of Abbaye des Rocs. “We only use natural and if possible local products, such as Belgian hops,” says Nathalie.
